Mission:
Molalla PAL is a nonprofit organization which builds partnerships between youth, police, and the community through recreational, athletic, and educational programs designed to encourage and develop good citizenship and
improve the quality of life in the community.
National History:
The National Police Athletic Leagues started in the early 1900s when officers realized that many kids were hanging out in the streets without positive things to do. These police officers volunteered their time to coach baseball, play stick ball in the streets, and mentor youth. The idea spread across the nation, and today, there are over 350 PAL chapters in nearly every state. Each PAL program is unique - some have youth centers, some just teach martial arts, but the missions are the same: united kids, cops and the community to provide positive opportunities for youth.
Local History:
Molalla PAL begin in February 2004 with assistance from the City of Molalla, Molalla Police Department, and many caring residents. The program begin with a series of camps and today operates a year-round out-of-school program that has served over 175 youth. Molalla PAL depends on the generosity and hard work of its staff and volunteers to maintain our programs and we look forward to many years of serving the Molalla community.
